Most planning for the new year is a list of things to start doing
Most planning for the new year is a list of things to start doing. The more useful list is what to stop.
Four things B2B operators should stop doing in 2027.
Stop measuring content by engagement. Engagement is a vanity number. The metric that matters is whether the right named accounts remember you when the buying moment comes. Build for memory, not for likes.
Stop hiring ahead of a fixed system. More reps into a broken commercial system just means more people absorbing the same dysfunction. Fix the wiring first. Then the headcount actually pays back.
Stop treating brand and sales as separate functions. In commoditized markets they're the same thing. The brand is the distribution that works while the reps sleep. Funding one and starving the other is leaving the cheapest channel you have on the table.
Stop running one forecast. Demand and supply are different numbers. The gap between what you can sell and what you can deliver is where the business gets into trouble. Watch both.
The operators who win 2027 won't be the ones who added the most. They'll be the ones who cut what stopped working and put the freed-up attention where it compounds.
A good stop-doing list is harder to write than a to-do list. It's also worth more.
