One topic per board meeting. One hour. That's it

One topic per board meeting. One hour. That's it.

A fellow board member suggested that on our first call together. I wrote it down, because it's the opposite of how most meetings I sit in actually run.

I'm on three boards right now. A consumer health business, a community for revenue leaders, and a B2B AI company.

Different industries. Same pattern.

Truth is, founders don't need another person with opinions. They have a bunch of those. They need someone who has sat in the commercial seat long enough to ask the uncomfortable question. Who actually owns the number? What happens to the pipeline if your best seller leaves?

Years in medtech sales and channel work taught me those questions. The boards are teaching me something new. How to ask them, and then stay quiet.

A director I spoke to this week told me he barely talks in his first two board meetings. He listens, reads the room, and earns the right to push. I'm still learning that one.

Here's the thing. Running the day to day teaches you how a business works. Sitting on a board teaches you how it decides. I want to get good at both.

Next, I want to do more of this in healthtech.

If you're a healthtech or medtech founder scaling across borders and want a commercial voice in the room, my DMs are open.
